Learning Observed
This term our over arching theme is ‘collaboration’ and we are learning how to be more collaborative in our learning, playing and meeting. Kima-Jo & Jared participated in a session where they had to collaborate on the word collaboration. They used a whiteboard, their prior knowledge and our new experiences from the ‘Collaboration Challenge’ to make a concept map. They took turns sharing ideas listening attentively and also took turns writing. They also then shared their mind map with others in the hapu group. This is all a part of our Thinking Skills Thursday theme when our hapu group- the Pukekos- meets together.

Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Jared & Kimba-Jo demonstrated all of the Key Competencies in this session: Thinking, and Using Languages, Symbols and Texts. They collaborated effectively and are becoming more capable at describing our four vision principles which are also part of our Learning Model. They used the equipment responsibly, shared ideas, took turns and used new approaches to uncover their prior knowledge. They showed curiosity - especially when the other buddy teams shared their ideas. The learners were collaborative when completing this task (Relating to Others, Managing Self, Participating & Contributing) and justified their thoughts to the rest of the hapu group members (Thinking & Relating to Others).
